12 of 12- June

Hi all...yet another installment of 12 of 12. This month, I was lucky enough to have a great day on the 12th. It was the last day of my first summer camp of the year. This week's theme was weird science. Friday was the Science of Magic, so we took our inspiration from the wizarding world of Harry Potter. Enjoy...

7:05 am- My car
The drive across the Tennessee River, looking back toward downtown Knoxville. The sunsphere (or wigsphere from a Simpson's episode) shines in the morning sun between the two tall buildings in the middle of the skyline.

7:20 am- Miller Education Building
A cool, damp morning brought out a variety of wildlife. This little guy looked like Peter Rabbit, heading into MacGregor's field...well, minus the little blue jacket.

7:45 am- Miller Education Building (inside)
The last bit of quiet before the kids arrive. Given the fact that this was day 5 of camp, the room doesn't look half bad.

7:55 am- Miller Education Building
The last of the stepping stones to dry. We put these in the sun to try to get them to harden before the end of the day.

9:20 am- Miller Building
Owen and Sam, putting the finishing touches on their paper mache sculptures.

9:35 am- Summer Camp
We had a couple high maintenance campers, and this is Emily, trying to keep this tantrum ship afloat :)

12:05 pm- Summer Camp
Each day after lunch, the campers were treated to a few minutes of Harry Potter. Today, we watched clips from the Chamber of Secrets.

12:15 pm- Summer Camp
Colin kept insisting that he didn't want to watch the movie and he wanted to draw instead. I don't think he ever managed to tear his eyes away...even to pick out a crayon.

1:45 pm- Summer Camp
One of the science experiments used white glue and borax to make slime...Severus Snape's Sorcery Slime to be exact.

2:35 pm- Summer Camp
After making a couple "magic potions" the campers decorated felt sacks to hold all their goodies...quite literally a "bag of tricks."

3:30 pm- Pavilion
Before the kids left, we took a few group shots.

3:36 pm- Pavilion
After a successful round of smiling shots, it's important to capture their true personalities :)

I have decided to show my day ending at approximately 4 pm. After a long 60-hour week, I didn't have much energy for anything after the day ended. In case you think you feel short-changed, here's what I didn't photograph: cleaning up, driving home, eating chinese take-out, and collapsing into bed at 9 pm. Cheers!
